  1. My obligations on this case were very simple from the start. The video and the surveillance just summed it all up. Shelia and Rachael were guilty from the start because they had the same story. When you have killed someone or did something wrong; you and your partner are going to always come up with a lie and stick to it. The only thing that gave them up was Rachael's breakdown because of the guilt of killing their friend, After Rachael being hospitalized; the discovery of Skylar's body was found. It was stated that both Rachael Shoulf and Shelia Eddy stabbed her to death slit her throat and left her in the woods of Wayne Township, Pennsylvania. -Ebony Monts

    1. This pertains to forensics because police had to investigate and see what really happened and why the girls were acting the way they were.

  2. The game they played was kind of like foreshadowing in a sense of what the goal was, and the goal of the 2 friends was to kill Skylar. The way they killed her was pretty brutal, I could never commit murder no matter how much I hated a person. But, clearly Shelia and Rachel hated her enough for whatever reason to plan out what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and where they where going to do it. Their stories were solid until Rachel had her nervous breakdown and fessed up. And honestly, how long could a person keep bottled up inside them that they killed their best friend in such a horrible way? The parents at least deserve an explanation as to why Shelia and Rachel killed their daughter. -Taylor Hall

  4. From the beginning, Sgoaf and Neese demonstrated strange behavior while dealing with their friends' bizarre death. First, footage shows that Skylar's friends were, indeed, the last to see her alive. Then, two alibies that once were believable, suddenly began to differ and reveal the truth of it all. Cell phone towers show that the vehicle used for transportation was forty-five miles away from where the girls stated to be. Weeks of pressure from both police and peers caused Rachel to completely lose her mind, and change her story. After being discharged from the hospital on Jan. 3, 2013, Shoaf confessed to her attorney and police that she and Eddy stabbed Skylar Neese to death. Shelia and Rachel killed their friend because just simply they did not like her. the horrendous murder was premeditated months in advance because they did not want to miss the annual church camp. After much thought, the plan was fulfilled, Skylar was vigorously stabbed to death. Honestly, I believe their must have been a higher motive to end a life. Their plan, with much thought, turned against them creatimg a lasting sentence. - Hannah Rowland

  5. The object of their little adventure was to clearly get rid of a person who they no longer liked. The way they conducted the murder was kind of sloppy. They did not bother to really show any remorse for the loss of their supposed to be best friend. They did not even try to make the story they came up with sound any less of a script. They kind of messed up when their stories where the exact same. Most of the time when people lie about anything with more then one person, each individuals story is the same. Which in their case, got them in more then just the typical "serious trouble". The motive behind the murder was incredibly stupid. I think the whole thing was just wrong. I think that if the cops and people had not become suspicious of them not acting like they cared much, then I don't think they would have gotten caught, along with if Racheal had not went and lost her mind. This teaches you that no matter how well you know some one, you cant always fully trust the one hundred percent, because you never know the motive behind any ones actions. This death could have been skipped completely. -Destiny Layman

  6. When first looking at this case one wouldn't think that the two friends, Rachel Shoaf and Sheila Eddy, could have murdered Skylar Neese. When Skylar's parents couldn't find Skylar on the morning of July 6, 2012, everything changed. They noticed that her bed wasn't slept in, her screen from her window was in the closet, and there was a bench close by. After seeing these things they concluded that she had snuck out that night and not returned. For months the Neese's were on the edge of their chair hoping she would come up, but nothing was found. Shoaf and Eddy were questioned on what happened and the investigators didn't get much. On January 3, 2013 after months of investigation, Shoaf turned herself in. She confessed that her and Eddy went out that night, smoked pot, and stabbed Neese to death simply because they "didn't like her." I can't imagine why someone could murder there so called best friend just because they didn't like her, it blows my mind. - Neil Perry Spradley

  7. Surveillance footage shows that Skylar's friends were the last people to see her alive. Then, the two stories they told that were believed, after that they began to not add up and revealed the truth of it all. The cell phones show that the vehicle they drove was forty-five miles away from where the girls said they was. Weeks of pressure from both police and students caused Rachel to go insane, and changed her story. After being discharged from the hospital she confessed to her attorney and police that she and Eddy stabbed Skylar. Shelia and Rachel killed their friend just because they did not like her. The horribe murder was thought over for months because they didn't want to miss their church camp.Their thoughts were brought together and Skylar was killed as they planned. I believe they are extremely selfish are it must have been a higher motive to the entire situation. - RJ Jones-

  8. video shows thats skylars friends was the last ones to see her before she went missing. i cant believe her best friends would do that. They did not even try to make the story they came up with sound any less of a script. They kind of messed up when their stories where the exact same. Most of the time when people lie about anything with more then one person they tell stories indifferent ways. -Dorian Mcduffie

  9. Skylar, Rachal, and Shelia were three friends that could not be broke apart. On July 6, 2012 Skylars families lives would change forever. After Skylar's parents contacted the police about their daughters disappearance months passed by without receiving any leads that meant something. However, one day Rachel could not get obtaining information and she spilled everything to the investigators. With all the evidence presented the judge was able to convict the two girls and give Skylars family peace. Both girls deserved everything they got.

  10. In this story it has describes how teenagers in this day of age have become completely twisted and corrupted. This applies to forensics because the investigators had to investigate the social media to help determine who could be a suspect and not. They also had to use DNA to test the car to prove that Skyler was actually in there. That evidence was key to the investigation and it helped the prosecuting team prove that the friends killed her. The forensic investigators did not have much evidence to go on, but they handled the evidence correctly so they were able to use all of them in court. That way they were able to prove that the friends killed their "best friend."

  11. Teenagers now a days seem to do the impossible things to one another. Rachel and Shelia were never Skylars friend to begin with. In the pictures they were taking Shelia was always looked like they tried to put her on the back burner. The evidence they had for Shelia was more than enough to convict them for murder and put them away for life. The video cameras would have been good sound evidence if they could have made out the car and or the license plats numbers.

  12. I feel like this case is a prime example about how messed up our society has become. Two teenage girls decided that their best friend couldn't keep a secrete so they killed her. Television shows made this action seem acceptable. This applies to forensics because the team had to seriously investigate this case so they could find any evidence about the murderers. They were able to use a surveillance video to support the testimony of one of the "best friends."

  13. When Skyler Neese's parents discovered her bed not slept on and the window screen in her closet, they knew something was wrong. Skylar's "best" friends were both grief ridden. It wasn't until Rachel cracked under the pressure that the police finally looked closer to the best friends. In the end the DNA in the back of Shelia's car was enough evidence to convict both Rachel and Shelia for murder. This type of crime is just horrendous.
