  1. My thoughts are this video is that people need to be more careful and make their things more secure. Hackers are out there to get people and they don't care who they get. This video pertains to forensics because its dealing with technology and that's a part of forensics also. They have to investigate and see how the hacker hacked into this family's baby monitor and watched their baby. All citizens should be more carful and put up blocks and passwords on everything that they have dealing with technology. -Ebony Monts

    2. I agree, that was a crazy idea I wouldn't trust to have a web cam on my phone because peoples phone get jail broke and hacked in to. so I would trust it 100%.

    3. Devon Bray: I agree as well, younger families especially should be much more cautious on what they allow in their homes as well as who or what they allow to "watch" their child/children. In this day or time you'll never know what you'll expect. Be cautious.

  2. My thoughts on this is that it takes a sick individual to hack into someones baby monitor and spy on their baby, their house, and most importantly their lives. I feel as if that is a major breech in security and that whoever is responsible should be punished. For citrizens, this means spending more money for newer appliances and making sure that they update their software. I dont see how this pertains to forensics but it pertains to our citizens.

  3. Sydney McRee: I believe that the baby cameras shouldnt be connected to the phone lines. It is to easy for people to hack into the system and see into there personal life. i just find it creepy. Therefore, they should have the cameras more secure and protected

    3. I think that having access on the phone is a good idea, but clearly there are still security problems that need to be worked out. If there were more security aspects of accessing the moniter over the mobile device it would be a marvelous invention.

  4. i think that baby monitors should not be mad/published anymore. this news report shows that any can and will hack in to the baby monitor. whoever is wiling to try to pull a stunt like this is an individual with no life, and should be punished by law. then again baby monitors are good way to keep a close eye on your child. i still think they should stop making baby monitors in my opinion.

  6. I believe that this is a scary thing that parents are having to deal with. Instead of making their homes "safer for the children" the cameras are allowing an intruder to enter their house. If I woke up to a man screaming at my child through a moniter, like the woman in this video did, I would imediatly throw it away and call the company. Buying something that should allow parents to keep an eye on their children while they are away should not be an item where perverts are allowed into their homes. I think that this whole situation is messed up and someone should do something about this invasion of privacy.

  7. I can't believe someone would spy on a family through a baby monitor. You shouldn't do it anyway, but how does someone even figure out how to hack a baby monitor. Also, what dingbat, for a lack of better words, would blow their cover by screaming at the baby while it slept? I mean, come on now. The father said he felt violated, and I don't blame him because there is no way to tell how many times this pervert has watched over this family. The whole thing is ridiculous.

  14. I think that people need to do more research when it comes to buying certain electronics. You never know what can happen. Like this couple many people believe nothing will ever happen and that its safe to use, but little to people know, things like this happen more then anyone wants to admit. This is a sick man who needs to find something else to do with his time. Spying on a little baby while sleeping and screaming at it is ridiculous. This type of incident can be a very bad thing to society because hackers can steal your information, learn where you live, etc. and you never know what can happen. I think if it where easier to figure out who hacked the device, it would be considered a "forensics" topics because then you could use clues and search and find out who the suspect was.- Destiny Layman

  15. Why would you want to prey on a little baby? That's just gross, in my opinion. It takes a nasty and messed up person to do that. Baby moniters are supposed to help keep your child safe, and keep you at ease at night. To me this isn't related to forensics, because there's no evidence, it would be hard to get clues, and come up with a suspect. --Gabi Bedsole

    1. I think it was more about watching the parents than the baby. It seems like a strategy a thief would take. Watching the parents while they're with the baby to know when they'd be out and such.

  16. When buying a video baby monitor the last thing on anyones mind is it being hacked and someone looking at your baby, house, and others! This is absolutely ridiculous I would never want anyone spying on my home through a product I bought and thought was safe! If I was waken up in the middle of the night by a man screaming through my baby monitor I, personally, would immediately call the company and ask them whats up with their product, and why/how is it being hacked? When cameras are being hacked like that it practically invites those hackers a way into that person's home and they have a legit layout of certain rooms in the house. It is easy for the hackers to know when no one is home and there is no telling what they will do! Hacked baby monitors pertains to forensics because a forensics team can potentially find any evidence left behind when they are being hacked. As a concerned citizen I would not trust this or any similar product until I know for sure they are safe and reliable. -- Neil Perry Spradley

  17. I just think that this is crazy how someone would turn something that suppose to watch little children into something like this. I think that the baby monitor company need to work more on their security system. They need to inform the parents on how they could make there passwords and things more secure. It is very terrible what is happening to this family but I also think that this is opening many parents eyes. They now know that an intruder doesn't actually even have to enter into your house anymore. These crazy people in the world are getting smarter so the companies should do the same thing. No family should have to ever go through this again.

  18. It's amazing how far we've come technologically with the ability to watch our babies without being in the same room as them. But with each new invention comes people wanting to know how to make use of it for different purposes, sadly more for bad than for good. One of the biggest parts of the advancements isn't just learning how to use it, but learning how to be safe while using it. Sometimes it may not be for the best to immediately jump onto the newest device because of its simplicity and how "advanced" it as, as it most likely is very much lacking in the security department and you're easily at risk to have your privacy invaded by a burglar, stalker or some other crazy deviant this world is full of these days. Stick with what works until what's new works.

  19. Certainly it is discomforting to even think of the discomfort of privacy invasion. However, it is even more disturbing to think that anyone could easily access the very room of a child. Truthfully, technology has advanced us, as a people, to become more knowledgeable of the world around us. Something, like a baby monitor , is purchased with no intention of allowing anyone else to see. Thankfully, no one would murdered or kidnapped this time. Maybe this could very well be a warning to us all.

  20. People should take many precautions before purchasing these kind of items. You shouldn't have to, but the way the world is today you do. There sick people in this world that have no problem spying or stalking ion your personal life. Not only could someone cause harm to your child, but they could know your family's everyday activity. This pertains to forensics because evidence can be used to find and identify the stalker/ hacker. As a citizen I am not surprised of this kind of stuff and people are just going to continue doing it.

  23. Though the parents thought that they where bringing a safe way to watch their baby, they only brought insecurity. Like most parents they thought having a camera watch their baby was a good idea, but instead they weren't the only ones watching it. Call me old-school but the world is getting too advanced too fast. We need to slow down so we can make sure that the products we are putting in our house are really there for our protection. Though not entirely the parents fault, they should have looked into the product before putting to much trust into it. It was still a horrendous crime and the creep needs to be caught. - Jarrett Lee

  24. Just the thought of someone having the ability to hack into your home is quiet disturbing. The family purchased the baby monitor for their child's safety, not for the invasion of a hacker. I believe the hacker should be arrested and charged with invasion of privacy. Many families should have an eye opener about this and hopefully they will learn from it. Just imagine if one person can do it, how many others could? However, if you have plans to continuing purchasing these monitors you need to ensure your password is complex. -- Alex Adams

  26. I think hackers will hack into anything just to get your personal information. But now hacking into a baby monitor. That's really sick and twisted. The fact that they can do that means that they could probably hack into any electronic device that you have. Even though we don't normally think about hackers when we buy electronics, it's still something that we should think about some of the time. I would buy just a regular baby monitor with just the sound and no video so you wouldn't have to worry about someone looking into your house or stalking your baby.
